The only solution I see is extensive work done by avalanche to make sure that if u choose to be a guy, the NPC and story characters instead with you as if you were a typical guy in the 1890's and vice versa. The dialogue has to be 'generic' to make sure it would fit a female/male character, which sucks! That's one of the reasons I honestly don't enjoy the immersion in those stories in those games.
